Scottish National Junior Training U12-18, Portugal Feb 8th – 13th 2024

The SSF is pleased to announce a high performance training camp for our junior surfers. These young surfers are the future of Scottish Surfing and the SSF wish to support them with their ambitions. To offer these talented surfers quality coaching whilst ensuring a safe and valuable experience, selection for this opportunity has been made based on 2023 National results, achievements in the junior series, as well as training commitment.

Headed by Scotland Head Coach Craig Sutherland ,the camp will focus on technical performance in fast waves at the Peniche High Performance Centre. Fitness and conditioning will take centre stage as Craig will be joined by SSF Performance Support lead Brendon Ferrier. Craig McLachlan and Donald Peace will offer further coach support to the camp, with Elaine and Russell Cruickshank assisting with off beach duties, house parent and safeguarding. Mal Anderson will also be there to capture the action.

Staffing of the camp is funded via the part time head coach role, SSF development budget to support coach development, and a portion of Rio Junior worlds surplus.

We understand many of our young surfers would love to be included in this training opportunity and welcome interest in future camps. We are in the process of creating a calendar of future training events, at both national and club level, and across all age categories and will share this as soon as possible.
