Membership Types

There are two general types of Membership:-

  • Active Membership and Non-Active Membership.
  • Active Membership – Describes individuals who support the SSF and wish to be kept abreast of associated SSF and Scottish Surfing developments and also wish to have active role in the future development of the sport. These members may attend the AGM and have full voting rights.
  • Non-Active Membership – Describes individuals who support the SSF and wish to be kept abreast of associatedSSF and Scottish Surfing developments but do not wish to have active role in the future development of the sport. A Non-Active Member may attend the AGM but in order to have full voting rights they must notify the executive committee 3 full days in advance of the meeting.
  • NB – The term “Non-Active Membership” was created as it was recognized through communication advances of the internet and social media there are many supporters of the SSF who wish to be kept informed of the SSF developments but are not currently direct members.

Categories of Active Membership will be:

  • INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP shall be open to individuals on or over eighteen years of age on 1st January in the year of joining.
  • JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP shall be open to individuals under eighteen years of age.
  • HONORARY MEMBERSHIP shall be conferred annually on individuals who have given outstanding service to the sport of surfing by the unanimous decision of the Annual General Meeting.
  • CLUB MEMBERSHIP shall be open to members of a properly constituted surf club.

Active Membership will run for one full year from the date the applicant joined.
