Anyone is welcome to enter from Scotland or abroad as long as they are an SSF member, if you are not you’re video will be removed. There will be two categories. OFFICIAL RULES
By participating, Surfers and Videographers acknowledge they are participating at their own risk and that the SSF nor any Sponsor is responsible for any physical harm or death that may befall any Surfer or Videographer as a result of participation in these Contests.
1. Eligibility: Wave of the Winter and GoPro of the Winter, are open to all SSF Members (membership is open to anyone and can be paid for athttp://www.thessf.com/)
2. Sponsors: TBC – If you would like to sponsor this event please contact the SSF to discuss terms of sponsorship
3. Agreement to Official Rules: Participation in this Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules. The SSF retains the right to change the rules, including the timescale of the event at any point.
4. Timing: The Contest begins on September 1, 2014 at 12:00 a.m and ends on February 28, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. (contest period)
5. How to Enter: To participate in this Contest, a surfer (“Surfer”) and videographer (“Videographer”) must visit the North Coast of Scotland (contest location) during the contest period. The Surfer and Videographer may also be referred to as entrants. The Surfer needs to then successfully ride a wave during the contest period and at the contest location, which is to be videotaped by the Videographer. The video will henceforth be referred to as the submission (“Submission”). Once the Submission has been created, the Videographer may visit The SSF facebook page then follow the link to Wave of the Winter - Scotland Events page and upload or paste a link to the Submission preferably via Youtube or Vimeo. By participating, each Surfer and Videographer acknowledge they are participating at their own risk and that neither the SSF nor any Sponsor is not responsible for any physical harm or death that may befall any Surfer or Videographer as a result of participation in these Contests. By uploading a Submission, both the Videographer who created the Submission, and the Surfer featured in the Submission, agree that the Submission conforms to the Video Guidelines and Content Restrictions as defined below (collectively, the “Guidelines and Restrictions”) and that Sponsors, in their sole discretion, may remove your Submission and disqualify you from the Contests if it believes, in its sole discretion, that your Submission fails to conform to the Guidelines and Restrictions.
6.Video Guidelines:
- Each video clip must contain only one ride/wave
- The Submission must be submitted without any watermarks.
- In the case of entries for the GoPro of the Winter, Submission must be shot on a GoPro camera.
- GoPro of the Winter clips can also be submitted and qualify for Wave of the Winter
- For questions regarding Wave of the Winter or GoPro of the Winter video entries, contact the SSF
- Video must be filmed on the North Coast of Scotland
7.Content Restrictions:
- The Submission must not contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement;
- The Submission must not disparage Sponsors, Administrator or any other person or party affiliated with the Promotion;
- The Submission must not contain images or artwork not created by Videographer;
- The Submission must not contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous;
- The Submission must not contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;
- The Submission must not contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to Scottish laws or regulations where Submission was created; and
- The Submission must not contain unsportsmanlike conduct, extraordinarily dangerous acts, reckless acts, or evidence inexperience in surfing in extreme surf conditions.
8.Winner Determination:
-Wave of the Winter/Overall Performance: Before the end of each month of the Contest, videographers must enter their Submissions from that month. The field of entrants from that month will be narrowed down and top rides will be pinned on the facebook events page. The submission with the most facebook likes will win, the following factors should be considered before “liking” a submission
- Wave Size (25%);
- Degree of Difficulty of Maneuvers (25%);
- Style (25%); and
- Overall “Heaviness” Factor (25%).
-GoPro of the Winter: the GoPro POV clip with the most likes will win this category. The following criteria should be considered before “liking” a clip
- Cinematography and Composition (25%);
- Perspective and Degree of Difficulty of Shooting (25%);
- Performance and Style (25%); and
- Overall Beauty and Lighting (25%).
An overall winner for each category will then be voted on facebook. The best rides from each month as decided by the amount of facebook likes will go against each other in this vote.
In the event of a tie the SSF committee will vote.
9.Prizes: Currently – respect of your peers. Unless a sponsor comes forward.
